Adventures in Animation - Appropriate for Grades K-2nd
Explore the wide world of stop-motion animation with CinemaKidz! Children utilize a variety of materials to build props, characters, and fantastical mini-movie sets to feature in original stop-motion animation films. Experiment with combining live action with animation, as well as effects like drawing on each frame, and utilizing green screens and stock footage. Children learn to create their own sounds and special effects to add to their shorts as they work in post-production finishing their animated shorts. Kids will explore various stop-motion and digital animation techniques, and create a variety of both 2D as well as 3D projects.
Young zoologists will have the opportunity to make observations, ask questions and use their senses to discover a world filled with amazing creatures! Through hands-on science activities we will explore the wonders of nature by comparing the different groups of animals, examining bones and feathers, discovering how animals survive in different habitats and investigating the ways that animals can move! Every week we will practice being kind to our LIVE animal visitors including rabbits, chinchillas, chickens, lizards, turtles, frogs, crabs and other awesome animals!
This class meets on Thursdays and teaches the kids drills and skills for the game. The kids will even play games amongst themselves. This class is Thursdays 3:15-4:15 PM for the Fall and Winter Term.
Chess will meet Chess Master Mr. Goodman and learn the basics of chess. More advanced players will be challenged. The class meets Tuesdays and or Wednesdays from 3:30-430 for K-1st Grade and 4:30-5:30 2nd-5th Grade.
Calling all Food Network Lovers! The kids will stir, mix and bake recipes each week in this fun class and bring their treat home, hopefully to share with their families.
Calling all actors and performers of all kinds! This class is for you. The students will learn acting through storytelling, improv, song and movement. The students will perform a show at the end of each term. This group meets on Mondays from 3:00-4:00.
Students will take an acting class on Thursdays from 3:30-4:30. Students will play acting games, memorize lines, learn all about character and put on a show at the end of the term.
Join Ms. McCloskey on Thursdays for the Winter Term in her very popular Fashion and Jewelry class. At the end of the trimester the students will have a Fashion and Bake sale and donate their funds to a Charity!
This class will meet on Wednesdays in the Fall for K-5th Graders: The class is adjusted to the skill level of the students. The K-1st Graders will meet from 3:30-4:30 and the 2nd-5th Graders will meet from 4:30-5:30.
In this fun class, the students will learn the basics of Hip-Hop and they will create a dance routine. This class is on Wednesdays for 2nd-5th grade and Thursdays for Pre-K-1st Grade at 3:30.
Code Advantage will be teaching 2nd-5th graders Lego Robotics on Fridays from 3:30-4:30.
Anibots (2nd-5th)
This class uses LEGO ® robotics to create animal robots and make them move. Why do giraffes have long necks? Why are so many fish-shaped differently? Why do cheetahs need 4 legs? Students will learn about animals and how their bodies help them perform specific tasks. They’ll also learn that concepts like torque, traction, and angular velocity make designing these “anibots” trickier than it may appear
Calling all magicians! In this class students will learn different magic tricks and work on mastering their skills on specific tricks. Students will then perform a magic show at the end of the trimester for their families.
This special class is only offered for 5th graders. Students will meet with Ms. Steinman on Thursdays from 4:30-5:30 and create different projects in the maker space room.
Students will study with Howard Latting of WMA Karate. Each of our students enter the program with a desire to learn, enjoy robust physical activity and participate as a team. This program is based on Korean Art and Modern Teachings.
If you want your child to run around and get all sweaty, this class is for you! The students will play a variety of sports and relay races in Central Park or use our Gym on inclement weather days.
Joel's Kids Action Sports coaches mix conditioning, gymnastics, balance, team work, confidence building and fun. Either indoors or out, we create a manageable obstacle course for the kids to conquer. Positive thinking and success are guaranteed.
Join Joel’s experienced, kid-friendly coaches for a fantastic season of inline skating and skateboarding. These are great classes for the young athlete to learn—not just one, but two― skating disciplines. Those who just want to learn one technique can do so.
Inline skating: Every week, coaches will teach a new skating skill—from basic balance, stopping, turns, skating backwards, and more. Whenever the weather is suitable, students will have terrific fun on wheels in Central Park. This class is open to all skill levels of skaters.
Skateboarding: Whether you already know how to do an “Ollie” or want to get started with skateboarding, this program is for you. Learn and enjoy the basics through advanced moves on a skateboard. From push-offs to “fakies,” this safe program will thrill students.
Calling Soccer Stars!!! This class will teach the basics of Soccer and the kids will learn drills and play simple games. The class meets on Mondays at 3:15-4:15.
Splat Lab is an enrichment class that was created for the sole purpose of having fun! Through STEAM inspired activities, kids problem solve, explore and feel a sense of belonging in the group.Kids will have fun creating and creating a mess in this class from making volcanos, slime, and different art project!
